I’m Steven. And this is a website.
Here I try to explain informally where I'm coming from, and what values I consider essential.
This website was started somewhat as a way to share technology I find interesting. I've been using computers, and various gadgets since the 70s. One of my favorite possessions when I was a child in the midwest was my transistor radio. With the built-in microphone, or a monaural earpiece, I could listen to radio. It was magical!
My infatuation with technology hasn't diminished. If anything, it's gotten worse. However, with age I try to avoid wasting money on things I won't use.
As part of sharing my love of gadgets, I include affiliate links. I generally include items I have personally purchased, have direct experience with, or at least have experience with other items from the same company. I earn a small commission through these affiliate links, which helps me purchase more things to test and evaluate.
If my opinion on an item drastically changes for better or worse, I will add an update at the beginning of an article explaining the situation. I will leave the rest of the article in place so the reader has context on my original thoughts. If something requires a large correction, I will add a link to the follow-on article, and encourage the reader to ignore the initial article except for the purposes of context.
An aside: I like items I have gotten from Kickstarter over the years, but I will generally avoid recommending such items, and they can take months longer than expected, or at worst they can completely go sideways.
